Accelerated Resolution Therapy
(ART)
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART for short) is an evidence-based therapeutic treatment designed to quickly reduce or eliminate unwanted, intense, overwhelming emotional and physical reactions that negatively impact people's lives. ART is incredibly effective with anxiety, panic attacks, post traumatic stress symptoms, depression, OCD, grief, phobias and many other struggles.
ART is a brief, structured process where the therapist leads the client through using eye movements and imagery to change how negative and painful memory images and symptoms are stored in the brain so they no longer trigger intense emotional and physical reactions. These eye movements mimic what our brain does during sleep that creates dreams and helps us work out what is in our subconscious. Essentially, it desensitizes the memory, negative symptoms and the trigger from the strong, overwhelming emotional response, and the person is able to more clearly think and respond rather than react. We say "Keep the Memory, Lose the Pain". Clients generally experience relief quickly, typically in 1-5 sessions.
