ABOUT JULIE
While I'm a native Texan, I lived in different places around the country growing up, which inspired my love for travel and gave me a curiosity and passion to connect with people across many cultures and walks of life. My heart for people and helping others comes from the overflow of my own healing journey from the challenges and hurts that life brings, including healing from childhood chaos, divorce, moving from surviving to thriving as a single parent, learning to connect with others in healthy relationships and working to grow a blended family. I am passionate about meeting people where they are and making clients feel comfortable and understood in a genuine, non-judgmental counseling relationship. My relationship with God has been a central part of my life and journey to who and where I am, and if you would like Christian faith to be a part of our work together, please let me know. However, I respect every client's right to have the type of therapy that will be most helpful for them.

My undergraduate degree in social work from Baylor University empowered a foundational love for helping people, and while completing a Master’s in Urban Ministry from Gordon Conwell in Boston, I developed my life’s mission statement to journey with others through their hurt and pain towards healing and wholeness. After working in social work and Christian ministry for several years, I completed a Professional Counseling degree at Liberty University to continue and expand my helping career. I believe wholeheartedly that while people cannot control what happens to them, if there is a willingness to work through the healing process, they can experience wholeness and freedom on the other side. My work at a domestic violence counseling center, inpatient mental health treatment hospital and private practice helped shape the way I walk with clients in developing healthy identity, gaining freedom from hurtful relationships and thinking patterns, healing from trauma and developing positive self-worth.
I am certified in an evidence based trauma treatment called Accelerated Resolution Therapy, or ART, which is highly effective for treating trauma, anxiety, panic, depression and many other issues that result in intense, problematic emotional reactions that keep people feeling hurt and stuck.
